I have windows vista ultimate os. I installed a pci-x nvidia graphics card and disabled the onboard graphics card and when i ran the windows 7 upgrade advisor its telling me that i only have 896 mb of ram when there is a 1 gig installed. So my onboard graphics is still taking up ram and i have no idea how to free up the ram. Anyone have any ideas? :cry

Okay so when you "disabled" the onboard graphics what did you do?

In your BIOS is it set to Display First from PCI-e?

Have you installed the Video Drivers for the PCI-e Card?

What is GPU-Z 0.35 telling you?

Or better still hit "Windows key + r" and enter dxdiag into the run window, select the display tab is the PCI-e card being noted here?

Device manager onboard graphics, right click disable.

    BIOS pci-x selected first.

    Current video drivers installed

I did the GPU-Z 0.35 and it still found the Nvidia Geforce 6100 nForce 405

    And Direct X Diagnosage

Try putting the RAM into different slots, usually the onboard will use the RAM from the nearest slot (pair) to the CPU.

Min. for 7 is 1gb, recommended is 2gb. Post the spec's & model for the eMachine. I really would not worry, because if it came with Vista, it will run 7. As for the version, 7 Ultimate is the version that you will have to "Upgrade" to, if running Vista Ultimate.

Supposedly this AMD mobo is capable of recognizing 2GB of memory max.

If you have four slots, make sure you have identical modules (sticks) installed on the same channel.

That may be the bane of your issue, if you have installed the RAM side by side, instead of slots 1 and 3.

What does the BIOS options for your onboard graphics look like? The 128MB your BIOS had set aside for graphics may still be held in reserve for it. If you can't disable the integrated 6100, try lowering the amount of shared video RAM to the lowest it lets you, which is usually 4 or 8 MB. That will free up megabytes for the OS to use.

Ok i will try that and get back to you with what options it has.
