OK ... so I've been using an email account on one of my sites. The mail program is "SmarterMail Professional Edition 3.3.2439". I've always just used the webmail functionality.

Lately, it has gotten full (after 6 years of stuff that I have to archive, not too bad). I am having a BEAR of a time trying to work with this!

1 issue (that is the hosting site's deal) is that I cannot alter the limit, & they seem to be ignoring me, altho I have PLENTY of space. That's another gripe for another time.

So ... I've been trying to archive my mail.

I cannot find a way to do it in Smartermail (a program that I otherwise QUITE like). After several days of looking, & finally HAVING to do something or stop getting mail, I set up the default Microsoft Mail that comes with Vista Ultimate. (I COULD use this to just pull it all down from the server, but I need to leave some of it there so that I can continue to access from anywhere).

    (Here come the questions)

When the 2 programs did their initial communication, it DID pull down everything in my "Inbox" (marked a few things as spam, but I dealt with that). Great ... so far, so good.

However, I have MANY sub-folders (that I use to automatically direct emails) on my Smartermail email ... is there any way to tell Microsoft mail to pull THOSE down as well? If not, I can work around it if there is a way to tell Microsoft Mail to check for mail in a specific folder (ie instead of "Inbox" being the default, "drafts" is).

Most of this just need a one-time check to grab them as an archive, but some will be constantly active.

So -- smaller picture ... help with configuring Microsoft Mail.

Larger picture -- a solution that would allow me to archive my mail from SmarterMail as easily as possible (while allowing a restore at some point, both to whatever backup I use AND the smartermail servers themselves).

ANY help is appreciated!!! (Sorry for the LOOOOOONG post)
