email tracking program?

Might someone know of a decent email tracking program?
I've been using a couple of free trials just to see when/if emails I send get opened and read. The services have been confusing in their results.
I get first bounced email notifications.. that mailer daemon warning that says the email was not deliverable to addresses at verison.net. Then the notification program says it was delivered.. opened.. read in a location far away from where the mail is supposed to go.
I'm not getting replies from customer service anywhere on this so I was wondering if anyone in here knows of one that's reliable.

Email tracking is hit and miss and depends just as much on the recipient as the sender. No program will guarantee what you want because if the recipient has blocked answering read-receipt requests and/or has images set as off by default, then you simply will never get any confirmation.

I've been discovering that in regards to the little one pixel image tracking html code that goes in the body of an email. The ones I've been test driving add a suffix to the end of the email address... with different results for the two I've been trying.

Is this internal email? If so, is it Exchange, Domino or Zimbra?
