Actually, better to know the truth then to be sorry. This is an old hoax. Been around for years. You can do a google search and it'll come up, or you can go to Snopes.com, and you'll find plenty of info on this and many other hoaxes.

Most all emails that tell you to send to everyone you know are hoaxes. Please don't send to everyone you know. :)

<Sigh> I wish people would just read the advice of this site(M.G.'s), which is free, use the software, most of which is also free, or free trial, and forget about the rumours and bogus e-mails.

    Various virus hoaxs':

Oooooohhhhh, we don't want that virus destroying "Sector Zero" on the hard drive! :p Sounds like something out of a video game... :)

Can somebody tell me what is the point of this hoax email? I've seen it going around for a few years now. I guess I don't see why someone would go thru all the trouble to write this email. There has to be a purpose...I'm just not getting it.

The biggest clue an email is a hoax is when it has something like this:

PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST !!

I have yet to come across a legitimate email that asks me to send it to everyone I know.

I've seen many like this before and people don't even check these warning messages out on the web they just panic. They send these warning to all there friends, and tell them they have to delete a certain file or your computer will be junk. A Hoax can do more damage than a virus at times.
When you recieve something like this check it out on the web first,do a google search,,,,,,,9 times out of 10 it's a Hoax.

No need to apologise. As Star said, keep on asking questions, it's the main way you'll learn. :)

I realised after a few days later when I read your post, you may have thought I was telling you off or something. I wasn't. I was just generalising, that's all.

Sorry if I sounded like a grouch. I'll have a stronger cup of coffee before I post in future. ;)

As has been said hoaxes can actually do more harm than virus' in some cases. The power of the typed word, huh?
