Email

On my Win 10 laptop, I use Firefox to access my webmail (Gmail). I have several desktop apps (WPS Office, FastStone photo viewer, etc.) that can output to desktop email app. But not to webmail. Anyone know of a workaround? Sure, from within Gmail, I can atttach a specific office file or photo file... but when I'm working a document within Office, or touching up a photo within FastStone -- it's just easier if I can use those apps to open up my Gmail and have that spreadsheet or that photo already attached.

 

Install Thunderbird and configure it to use Gmail.
All the downloaded emails will then be on your computer - you can then manage them without an internet connection.

Since I will continue to use webmail - and maybe the desktop mail client only when I have attachments - might someone recommend a lightweight desktop mail client - preferably portable? In other words, are there lighter, simpler apps than Thunderbird?

 

Yes, of course there are. You could try the Win 10/11 Mail app for example. I use it all the time but for the more important stuff I still open Thunderbird.

 

I downloaded and installed Thunderbird. I can now email various outputs directly from within apps that I am working with. Mission accomplished. I've also played around with Thunderbird to populate my web Gmail 'Sent' folder for anything that I sent out via Thunderbird; but otherwise, not to download anything at all to my local drive. I want to continue using webmail solely, and have no desire to maintain/sync to a local database. Thanks again.
