Enlarge/Recude size of screen...

Okay, I know this is a dumb question but I also know that you guys have had the answers to a boatlaod of my problems so I am once again seeking help. If I explain it wrong, please forgive me.

This is the problem. I have a Dell laptop running Windows XP. When it starts, it always asks for a name and password. When I open using my name and password, the wallpaper (and any files I open) fills the screen. When someone else opens using their name and password, the screen looks like a picture with a black "matting" around it, like a picture in a frame. All programs work within the viewable space. Nothing cut off or not appearing proportionally proper. The question is how do I get the screen to go full size so it fills every inch of the laptop's screen? I know it will be something silly and dumb but I need this gone.

I am probably not the most qualified to answer this but I will give it a shot. Right click on your desktop and click on Properties. From there you should be able to adjust what your desktop looks like. The last tab "Settings" allows you to set the screen area size. This is the only thing I can think of that would make your desktop fill the entire screen. Hope it works for you. Someone more knowledgeable will come along and correct me if I am mistaken.

Thanks. I knew it was something simple. I never played with that feature before so that means these guys did. I can now fix it and get them off my tail.
