What a pathetic response to being found guilty of ruining the lives of tens of thousands of people. I think each person that lost a cent to these pricks should have the chance at one kick in the junk per charge.

Even more pathetic, it's a no-brainer that the ambulance chasers will have this on appeal for years...

    Kenneth Lay is over 60.

If it's appealed and stalled, he might not do much time, if any.

I can't think of a more fitting way to go for him to die off, no matter what age: decrepit old man with money hidden in banks all over the world that he can't spend, in a jail cell praying he doesn't drop the soap in the shower...he deserves to sleep with the rats, Skilling included.

What do you have against rats? :)

If I was ripped off by this scum, I'd rather have him suffer for years in jail than a quick death, unless it was a really painful death.

Solitary confinement for 23 hours a day in a cell next to Zacharias Moussaoui would do nicely.

Its unlikely he will be in a maximun security prison, or anything near it.

    I don't understand greed.

These people already had more money than most, lived a great life and had a decent job.

Why would anyone be stupid enough to risk that?

When the judge ordered them to surrender their passports, they were considered possible flight risks, and that leans toward no less than medium security (non-violent offender) prison. Even if they are sentenced to Club Fed, it's will be enough of a lifestyle culture-shock for them; their every move is pre-planned and it will require adjustment. At their ages and considering the sheer number of charges they were found guilty of, they'll likely die in prison. Good for them.

I encourage anyone with any interest in this to peruse news sites and read some of the statements made under oath by these two crooks. If it isn't obvious the $2000-an-hour attorneys didn't puppet-train their defendants, perhaps the 2 ministers hired to sit in the courtroom during the duration of the trial is. Just another reason why attorneys are sometimes worse than the people they are defending.

Of course, desperate men will say anything to keep their Eddie Bauer asses out of jail.

Companies encourage psychopathy... Greed, self interest and a complete lack of concern for others combined with a hightened sense of percieved injustice whenever anything goes against them. Like the muderer who said, "Yeah sure I killed that prick. He only got what was coming. But I didn't steal that handbag so the mongrel who said that is going to pay when I get out of here." ( I'm the one who has been wronged.)
But many psychopaths are successful. To get to the top you have to want to get to the top. (Let's face it if you had a job that paid 5 million a year how long would you work at it... I'd quit after 6 months.)
To get to the top you need to...
    Wheel and deal.
Form alliances then stab those same people in the back to climb higher.
Fawn to those above you and treat those below you like dirt.
Most fail and are revealed but some don't.
Remind you of any politicians/bosses you know?

These behaviours are "Darwinian". If your tribe was being attacked it might have been useful to have been led by a ruthless psychopath.

There were several people on the news today that had lost $700,000-$800,000 in retirement.

I would be on the news too if someone stole that kind of money from me........know what I mean? :D

It's all about being on top of the heap. What good is half a billion dollars if your neighbour has a billion.

And about having power, too, I think. Whether real or imagined. Real power comes from integrity.

Fighting a needless war in Iraq which costs billions doesn't really help either.........
