Error #0x800CCCOF

When I send larger email, Outlook Express 6, Have Windows XP, Media edition,dial-up, get error:SMTP Server Response 421 Error, port 25 Secure SSL No.Server Error 421. Error # Ox800CCCOF.
Checked on internet, said may need Reg Clean. Need expert advice, Please.

Make sure your Outlook Express is not disconnecting automatically from the internet at the end of the session.

tools>options>connection tab>'hang up after sending and receiving'

should not be ticked.

Otherwise OE disconnects before Norton (or other AV) has had a chance to check the outgoing email.

 

Thanks, had Zone Alarm, caused all sorts of problems, took it off and put on AVG, will check Outlook Express settings. Appreciate replies. Will see what i can do, now. May be back.

 

You know, i don't have a firewall running. What do you recommend? How do you feel about the microsoft firewall? Is this just a precaution, or could it be my problem?

 

Third party firewalls eg Zone Alarm turn off the Windows one when you install them but don't usually it back on when you uninstall.

Your new AVG may well have a firewall as some versions do. Check this.

Alternatively most normal users are OK with the Windows firewall.

Finally if you are connecting to the internet via an ethernet router this may have a hardware firewall which is better still.

You should only have one software firewall on the machine itself.
