I've loaded Spybot Search & Destroy but the IE is not allowed to get updated detection files. Any place I can download and put in manually?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Are you giving us the correct program name? Spyware Bot would be malware. So if you installed that, then uninstall it. Or did you mean Spybot Search & Destroy?

It was Spybot S&D that is installed. The infected PC is erratic in IE and not controllable.

Spybot S&D says there are no updates available when UPDATE is selected. However, when CHECK FOR PROBLEMS is selected, no detection files is displayed., please update or load manually.

I am in the Windows XP Procedure section, Step 2 at Spybot S&D
    It will not scan

    Did you already run ComboFix?

    Skip Spybot and continue!

If you keep having problems running things, try using safe boot mode.

    Thank you
    Yes, I ran ComboFix

Will use safe mode if problem continues.
    Let you know results

Having to run in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING since AVG would not update either.

    Updated Spybot S&D and running.......

Are you using a proxy server? If so, you need to configure your proxy information in the programs so they can update.

[EDIT] Oh I see you were able to update Spybot in safe mode. It then sounds like malware or some other software is blocking you from getting updates. It is not a proxy issue.

Well, attached are my log files.
The 3 desktop icons (Error Cleaner, Privacy Pro....)are gone on all users.
When in IE, we still receive a windows nag about security issues.
    What should I do next?

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_06
    Mozilla Firefox (2.0.0.6)
Now reboot your PC! Do not skip this reboot!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Then install the current version of FireFox from: Mozilla Firefox

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following
lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right
    now:

    O2 - BHO: BDEX System - {3CB0F6B4-C808-4C2F-9DEB-3E5D5E5ED1FD} - C:\WINDOWS\blopenvsdt.dll
    O3 - Toolbar: The retnsrp - {3D46AE4E-ADB7-48AB-B320-FECBB192BF06} - C:\WINDOWS\retnsrp.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O21 - SSODL: leorop - {6BD54984-668C-4938-B4CE-E9B83303382C} - C:\WINDOWS\leorop.dll (file missing)
    O21 - SSODL: nopzet - {2271B0FF-FA9B-4C3F-B027-BCF6D6406A9E} - C:\WINDOWS\nopzet.dl

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your
    Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
After reboot look for all of the above files we had Avenger attempt to delete. If you still see them, delete them yourself.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip
file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
