error, maybe malware?

Here is the errors I keep getting when I start up my windows 98 computer. This is in the same order it happens, and all of them are followed by “This program has performed illegal operation and will be shut down.” Then after all of this it stops responeding, and I have to force shut down, I cant get to anything, nor do anything. This all started right after I changed the settings on my monitor. Please help. These don’t say the illegal crap. Dfs.vxd Msnp32.dll These do. Mstask Scanregw Rundll32 Atiptaxx Explorer Moffice Stopsighnav Fm303. I need to know what I can do, I cant get on the internet because I can only start in safe mode, witch means I cant get to my cd rom drive. Im a little stuck, and I want to see what I can do before I throw this good old thing away.Thanks, sorry if I posted this in the wrong place.

• Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)

• Bitdefender
• Panda Scan
• HijackThis

 

UPDATE***********

Well, now I only get one error, BUT its the one that sucks the most, its....explorer. How do I fix this? How the hell is any of that going to help? you need to be able to be on the internet, I cant get on the internet. Plus, my virus stuff says there is none. I need more help than those, being as my case is WAY different than those in that probley very helpful link. Remember I cant get on the internet because it can only boot in safe mode.

I cant post my logs, being I dont have the program, nor can I get the program as I cant get on the internet with this computer. Is there anyway I can wipe the hd? from safe mode? I have win 98 cd but I cant get too it from my computer in safe mode, and normal start is useless. any help would be great!

 

Use the Computer you are posting from to download the tools, burn them to a CD or copy them to a thumb drive then install the tools onto the infected computer.

 

It cant see the cdrom drive :s, I'll try a thumb drive, or I'll find a anouther comp with a floppy, I'll check back. Thanks for all your help

 

Just to back up at little. Are you saying that the CD drive is not present in Safe Mode. The drivers should have loaded.

Do the following:
Start -> Run
type sfc /scannow
'OK'

This will replace any missing system files, assuming that the contents of the Win98 CD are on the HD, otherwise you may be asked for the CD.

 

Well no need for anymore help. Problem solved. It's called 100bucks for Win XP and computer 2 to wipe the HD. Now back up in business. You do not know how grateful I am for all you your help, and sticking with me even when I was being an a$$. Thanks for all of your help again.
