Try googling it. Is your old computer still working, in any way. Or is it completely stopped? can you get a command prompt?

googling, never heard of that, it is locked up completely as far as i know, the screen goes blue with that error message, its an old puter 200mhz, about 90 mgs of ram, but my 7yr old daughter uses it alot and would be nice to keep going for her. it will just be sitting for a couple hours and come back to it and its locked up, i'll ctrl-alt-delete and the screen will go blue with the error FATAL EXCEPTION OE 015F: BFF85222 , i'll have to power down after that to get going again

    Something to try:

    Click Start, then RUN

    Type in: MSCONFIG (press enter)

Click the radial button next to: Selective Startup

Uncheck the box next to: Load startup items.

Then hit okay, then say YES for reboot.

I hate to say this, but then wait the amount of time, that the computer normally locks up. If nothing happens, as in, the computer works fine, then perhaps a particular program that starts up is causing this issue.

Fatal Exception OE's relate to bad RAM, for W95 and W98. Click on this google link, for lots more info.

    http://www.google.com/search?as_q=&num=20&hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=fatal+exception&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=lang_en&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&safe=images

    Run a program like Memtest86+ . ( I haven't used it) www.majorgeeks.com/download4226.html
Up-to-date version of this tool aimed at memory failure detection.

or go to MG Search link and type in +ram +test (spaces and plus signs as shown)
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/search.php

This will come up 40+ programs you can select from, that MAY test your RAM.
Lots of programs there that I have not used.

Sorry, I cannot remember the program I used to check RAM in W98SE .

Maybe some MG 'er, who reads this, can recommend a RAM tester.

Report back with the results. You may have to open up your PC, as a result of these tests.

Do you know how much RAM you have?
Do you know how many sticks of RAM are installed on your PC?
Do you know how to remove and replace RAM sticks?

Try downloading, installing, and running EVEREST Home edition to help.

    www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181

Click on Motherboard (to open it up), then click on Chipset. Go to Memory slots, this will tell you how many RAM sticks, how much memory is installed, plus other info.

Write down this info, and tell us when you reply.

Click on Benchmark (at the bottom) and open it up. There are a couple of Memory testing programs there. Run them, don't move the mouse while you are running them. Write down any results they find, and report back.

All this info will help us proceed further. Bazza

For an exact diagnosis, you need the rest of the error message, which will tell you the program or file causing the error.
