Error Message while trying to play AVI

I have 2 displays of the screen for you to view. one from Media Player Classic, one from Windows Media Player. please Help!!!

 

Does this happen with all AVI files, or just a certain file or files? If it's only one or a few AVIs, then it may be a codec issue. Actually, if it's all AVIs it may be a codec issue. What codec packs (if any) are you using? I can personally recommend three different packs that I have used personally with out problems:
Vista Codec Pack http://www.majorgeeks.com/Vista_Codec_Package_d5326.html (Win2000/XP/Vista 32bit)
Storm Codec Pack http://www.majorgeeks.com/Storm_Codec_d5491.html (all Win; includes Media Player Classic)
KLite Mega Pack http://www.majorgeeks.com/K-Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack_d5230.html (all Win; includes Media Player Classic)
Before installing a new codec pack, uninstall your current codecs. Here's some good info on codec removal:

You can also try running the KLite Codec Tweak Tool. It scans for broken codecs and tries to repair any it finds, or it has the option to remove the broken codecs. A free download from here http://www.majorgeeks.com/K-Lite_Codec_Tweak_Tool_d5738.html Alternatively, you can try a media player like VLC that doesn't really rely on codecs, it has it's own built-in.
