error msg

just started getting this msg today, C:\users\j\appdata\local\temp\crss.exe not a clue at what it means

I agree 100% with iain.t. While the file cSrss.exe is a legitimate file, it does not reside in any TEMP folders; the file listed above is crss.exe which is a poor attempt to appear as a legit system file, but (generally speaking) legit system files do not run from TEMP folders, especially not the real version of csrss.exe.

BTW - what error message are you getting??? Your original post only says this:

You simply posted the file path without telling us the actual error. If it's a 'file not found' type of error, it's a good thing, because that tells us that the file has been removed (likely by an antivirus program or a temp cleaner program). However, it also means that a 'parent' process is still calling to the 'child' process crss.exe so it's likely that an at least somewhat active infection persists.
