error on right click

when right clicking my mouse on some folders I get this message
Fail to open log!
Failed to open file,
check for log file path and the file access rights!
ok
when I press the ok it then gives me the right click menu. This is only happening on some files. I have tried everything I can think of anyone ever experience or hear of this problem?

 

Welcome to the forum I haven't come across this before but it sounds like a permissions issue so I'd double check you are logged in as the administrator and have full access rights,control panel,admin tools.

While in Admin tools open event viewer and find the log of the error in system error records,also check application error records and security records for the error log and post any information here.

With your next post include your operating system and the type of files this happens with.

 

You might want to try disabling all of your non-microsoft ContextMenuHandlers. You can manage them with a program from microsoft called autoruns.exe. Get it here:

Sounds like there was a program installed that utilized right-click.
Somehow that program did not uninstall cleanly (left remnants) or just plainly broke.

What types of files is it occuring on?
Utilizing JustinHoMi's method you could narrow it down to which menu handler is causing the problem and link it to a program.
