Error Reinstalling Windows XP ...Help please

i had a horrible virus on my computer this morning...so i went to bios and booted my windows xp cd, i formated the drive using ntfs..not the quick ntfs, and after formating the partition the setup rebooted.......took me back to square one, except now when i run through the setup, it will not let me install the os because it cannot format the drive, why its trying to format a formatted drive is beyond me, and i cannot repair as there is no os currently installed, if anyone has any solutions or ideas, i would love to hear em :cool

 

Where exactly is it stopping you during setup? I had an XP reinstall issue earlier today involving a new HD.

 

the setup comes to a hault when it asks to format the partition...the partition has been completely wiped, so it cannot format the partition again...therefore creating a giant headache for me

 

any help please??? i need this resolved asap...thanks in advance
