I occasionally get the error "Error saving web page--The web page could not be saved to the selected location". The saving speedo gets to about 42% and then the error message happens. It happens when I try and save as html. If I save as text it works in a flash, without the graphics, obviously.

I tried a different location (folder) today, same error, same message.

While I am at it why does MS persist in saving the html gifs and things in a separate folder but lumps the associated text in your default directory ( in my case in My Documents folder).

I am stuck with the article I am trying to "html save as" in 2 different places. Why? Can anything be set to stop this or is this a MS "feature".

W98SE, P2/400, 288mb Ram (maxed out), IE6, AOL UK V7.0, V90 dialup modem, 30gig hard drive, plenty of room.

you could be inadvertantly trying to save something that is denying you access to retrieve.

Thanks Kodo, you're unbelievable. A reply in 3 minutes across the world. This is just a page from a website where I want to download a product and save something relevant. Why would it allow me to save it as text? Can you assist in any way to save html and text in one folder, not 2? Thx again, Baz

Well, seeing as you're on dial up too, it could be a size and time of download issue too.
When you download HTML pages, in order for you to SEE the images that are used in the site, they have to download too and are saved along with the page. There could be something included in that, that is secured and won't let you download. With text, there's no images and thus no EXTRA objects to download.

    Kodo, Thanks for the reply.

I know both are downloaded but why do they download into a separate folder from the text. I'd like them to download to the same folder, if possible.

Most sites allow you to download their pages and it is annoying when you come across download/install instructions with diagrams and can't save the graphics as well as the text.

I will note down the next time it happens and maybe come back to you. Baz
