I seem to have the above infection on my pc, it just appears as and when it feels like it and now seems to also attempt to get me to add itself to my program list, now i know there is a certain list of instructions but does that apply to this bug? And do you need any further info before i start to attempt to clean?
    Cheers.

Found nothing, i presonally thought it had gone but i rebooted today and opened up ebay instead of opening ebay it opened up this errorsafe.com page which tried to divert me to add to it add/remove programs or something. Any other chance of trying to find it or even see if it is actually there? There must be something as my dl speed is down from 200kbps to 20ish.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Ok, i started to do as you said and lo and behold i found the errorsafe problem (which i presume is also the drivercleaner problem but im guessing), i hadnt clicked on the remove cookies part of ccleaner so it was hiding in there, so i ran all the other tests (but didnt save logs) and everything was clean.....THEN i rebooted and drivecleaner appeared!! Any ideas what to do next or shall i do as you said the first time and supply logs. Cheers.

Yes, you need to follow the directions given in message # 5 exactly and attach all six requested logs. That is the only way we can help you.

Ok, all the scans have been done. Pandascan has been done in safe mode and normal mode however the link is now not working and neither could i spot where to save the file. All other sweeps have been done. Panda did find nothing and i can re-do for you when the site is back working if you wish.
Please remember my problem is errorsafe/drivecleaner which seems pretty reluctant to shift

Note you misread step 7 of the READ & RUN ME. The HijackThis.exe executable file needs to be renamed. Not the HijackThis folder. You have this:

    C:\Program Files\analyse.exe\HijackThis.exe

    It should be this:

    C:\Program Files\HijackThis\analyse.exe or C:\Program Files\HJT\analyse.exe

You should correct this now for future use.

Now copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Okay now uninstall the Sunbelt CounterSpy trial since we are finished with it now! Then delete the below two folders if they are left behind by the uninstall.
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sunbelt Software
    C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software

Do you know what the below files are from/for? They seem suspicious and I have no info on them.
    Code:
    "C:\WINDOWS\system32\"
    kver8.dll 30 Dec 2006 5 "kver8.dll"
    kver9.dll 23 Dec 2006 3 "kver9.dll"
    yertio~1.dll 23 Dec 2006 6 "yertion12.dll"
    zamba345.dll 23 Dec 2006 5 "zamba345.dll"

If you do not know what the below DLL files are for, move those 4 DLL files to a temporary folder (like C:\backup ) for now. After moving them, reboot your PC. If you cannot move them, boot into safe mode and move them.

Now Attach new logs from ShowNew and HJT.

    Are you still having problems?

Ok, i will do that shortly. I have found the source of the infection, it happens when i log into www.cityoflondon.org which is the home address of my email people, i was suspicious about this before but i have a brand spanking new laptop here only a day old and i just went to log into my email and lo and behold the drivecleaner thing appeared, propbably a silly question but should i avoid my email in future and change my address? I would welcome your views on this, in the mean time i will do as you asked an no i dont have a clue what them 4 entries are.

Your logs are clean. I don't know anything about that citeoflondon.org site you posted but that actual URL that you get when going there is: http://www.croeso.com/

Seems to be legit. Perhaps you need to talk to them to make sure they don't have any malware advertisers on their pages.

Also make sure you have used updated Spybot and used its Immunize feature and also that you have updated and enabled all protection from SpywareBlaster.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix you can delete the ComboFix.exe file and associated C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    5. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    6. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    8. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    9. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
