ESET NOD system and internet slowdown?

I uninstalled ESET NOD during a clean install. I happened to notice since I did the uninstall (but not yet reinstalled) that my operating system is running a teeny bit speedier and that my Verizon FiOs upload speed is much improved. I am paying for 25/25 and was getting 25/8 consistently with NOD running.

Now I am back to 25/21-24. Is ESET NOD known to slowdown a system or file upload speed that significantly or should I troubleshoot my system some more?

I have been happy with the antivirus performance, and I use Super AntiSpyware and MBAM for backup scans, but crimping my upload throughput is undesirable.

Just to be more clear. Based on previous logs you posted in the Malware Forum, you do not have just ESET NOD. You have ESET Smart Security which is a full security suite and includes a firewall too.

Hi

As Chaslang has mentioned your security application is an AIO type as in AV + Firewall etc, these can in some PC setups slow internet speeds down as they are checking the data packets that are being transferred.

If you disable NOD and all is better then option is to try a new security application out in lieu of NOD32, Avast for AV is good and PCTools Firewall is also OK.

What is your Windows version and Service Pack (sadly could look for this in your older post but I lazy and like all info in the open thread on an issue as I never know if its a different PC or not as many folk have multiple PCs these days)?
