My husband installed esetNOD32 on our computer. Today, it no longer responds...the icons are still in the start menu, but when you click on them, there is a quick flash of the hourglass and then nothing happens. When you start up, the splashscreen no longer shows and the icon is gone from the tray at the bottom. We have had two messages: sus.dll was not found and a tfswcres.dll was not found. What is going on here?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

This does not sound like an issue for the Malware Forum. If you are having problems with NOD32, uninstall it reboot, and then see if you things run normally. Did you legally purchase NOD32? It so, you can try reinstalling. If you did not legally purchase it then do not reinstall what you have.

The two DLL files you mentioned are part of Sonic Software (for your DVD or CD writer). It they are missing you may need to reinstall your software if you still use it. If you don't use Sonic then uninstall it.

If you wish to check your PC for malware, the below steps are the way to do that.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

chaslang: First, thanks! Sorry if this is the wrong place...I was not sure if a virus somehow eradicated the protection program so I started here. I know zip, zero, nada about Windows...I am a Macgal so I was flummoxed when it happened. Should I move the post somewhere else?
We reinstalled our legally purchased version of eset, and it seems OK...But I have to say, that freaked me out. Any idea why it would disappear like that? Or what happened to the two DLL files?

No I do not know what happen. You would have to back track all the things that may have been done on the PC to see if you could figure out what happened. It is possible that running a scan with NOD32 of another scan deleted your DLL files. But I would expect that something else was done on the PC since NOD32 would not just disappear.

It's a screwy thing. SoundMax and SonicNow are doing the same thing. We uninstalled all of it, but again, What The Heck? And (please don't pull your hair out now) how do you back track what was done? Is there somewhere you can see all of the activity?

No I will not pull my hair out, but don't take the following the wrong way either. ;) The history of what has been going on with your PC is in the minds of the users. The only other history recorded by the PC itself is in your browser history which shows surfing activity but that was most likely cleaned up when you ran CCleaner.

I repeat if you wish to check for malware, we can do that but you need to follow the instructions already given in message # 4. If you don't do that, I cannot help you.
