    Hi Geeks,
Im new to this site, just been browsing and I'm impressed with the help people have been given. I'm hoping someone may be able to help me too with a problem that has been really getting to me a while.
Basically, I had to format a hard drive some time ago now (which is working fine). I used Windows XP Service Pack 1 (from original disc) and upgraded it to pack 2.
Everything seems ok except that I couldnt seem to use my (Netgear) router to log online and had to revert back to using my (Voyager 105) Modem. Obviously this is slower. I rang my ISP (AOL) and after a very long, uninformative call they told me that my ethernet adapter wasnt installed any more and this was why my router wont connect.
I have been into device manager and tried to update a few versions but I keep getting the 'cant start Code 10' error message.
PLEASE can anyone help me with this as it's been going on for too long now and is very frustrating. :cry

what brand comp do you have (ie - dell, gateway)? if you have a manufactured pc, you should be able to go to their site and get the drivers. - g/l, sos

edit - well musksnipe beat me to it. - sos

edit again - although i can't get that link to work.

Thanks for the replies Sosaman and Musksnipe - appreciated.
I cant get the link to work either. I did manage to download some drivers from the pages below ::

    http://global.shuttle.com/download03.jsp?PI=623
    and
    http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...SubCatID =124

I opened both files and am now totally lost. When I downloaded the 'rhinedriver v60 via' file, I went into the file "Vista_XP_Srv2003_2K_ME_98SE\X86\WINX86" then sub folder "X64" and tried to open "Winsetup64" but it wont open and says its an invalid win32 application.
In the AK38N file I downloaded, I went into the LAN folder then into winsetup folder. I click on W2KSetup and although it doesnt say it wont work - nothing actually happens.
I may be doing something wrong here but I really cant think what it is. :confused

    Hi Sosaman,
I have looked in the file winsetup, not sure about autodetecting my card (not even sure about that, i'm borderline technophobe lol). I clicked on the exe winsetup and it displays the message on the attached screenshot below.

    Hi Sos,
No, nothing sloved at all. I'm going slowly mad here lol. Nothing actually installs at all, nor does it say it has / hasnt. I'm lost. I went out yesterday and bought a Belkin USB adapter which I was told by PC World would solve the problem and doesnt need ethernet to connect - guess what, STILL no connection and more frustration after spending money. I'm about to mention that though in a new thread - "Netgear Vs Belkin Vs AOL - please help".
Thanks for the replies to this thread, I'm still living in hope :(
