I have a Dell desktop and laptop using Intel Pro100 VE network connection. When I try to connect to the internet using the ethernet cable, it says I am connected but I am unable to access the internet. It appears the cable modem is sending the signal but the computers are not responding back. Since it is happening on both computers I'm pretty sure the hardware/software is fine. When I connect using our wireless router the connections are just fine. We want to upgrade our router and need the hard wired connection to use the wizard for the new router. I know they used to work as I used them before we went wireless. We have disabled firewalls and still no luck.

I don't know exactly what we did but we reinstalled the drivers on both computers and tweeked some other settings and viola, it worked. Got the new wireless set up and running now too.
