Ethernet controller driver problem on Asus L410

I have an Asus L410 desktop.I have installed XP home with the drivers from Asus web site.
Everything is OK execpt for the ethernet controller. The drivers I have from the site do not work I have tried other drivers from other models but no luck. Contacted Asus but no help as the warrenty has runout and want me to ring a premium no.

I believe the MB is a Foxconn RS690L but can not find the model no on their site. Tried inputing 690L etc but no luck. Used the Sandra software to check specs on machine. The Asus is also known as model no AL5100.

Have also unistalled and reinstalled chipset but no joy.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanking you in advance.

Hi

What Service Pack to XP have you installed?

In Device Manager are there any yellow ! marks, please name them all?

Check in BIOS that ethernet/networking is not disabled, would also maybe jot down the BIOS settings then reset it, with PC off quick way is to pop out carefully the BIOS battery for 10mins then replace, enter BIOS and put your settings back.

Could attach a log from Everest, dunno may help, more most if not all the drivers would be on ACERs support site,

Download and install Everest to find this info, at times a summary log of your PC can help, to do this

Install Everest and run
Click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next
Choose Custom Selection and choose/tick only these ones.... Computer, Motherboard, Multimedia, Network and Devices then click Next
Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) and click Save (n.b. Save to desktop is best as easy place to find it, use Browse to locate desktop)

Then attach your log to your next post as per these instructions HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

First of all, there is no such thing as an "Asus L410" or an "Asus L5100". These are ACER models, NOT Asus models. Asus does not make desktop PCs. The full name of the PC is the Acer Veriton L410. The PC uses the RealTek gigabit ethernet controller. You can download the drivers from here:

If the drivers for the RTL8110SC(L) don't work, scroll down the page until you see the drivers for RTL8110S-32/RTL8110SB(L)/RTL8169SB(L)/RTL8169SC(L)/RTL8169 and try those.... if none of these work, please provide the Everest report as per Halo's instructions above.
