I've been dealing too long with Dell Support. I have a Dell Inspiron 600m w/Windows XP SP2. Original issue was with A/C Adapter not being recognized. Am able to use dial-up connection at home. They sent a Tech to my office to install new motherboard. Before he left I tried to connect to internet via DSL connection, but it wouldn't even go into slot. He ended up ordering another motherboard, but Dell had me send the laptop in for installation. When returned, I still can't connect to DSL. Have been working with Dell Support and they concluded that the Ethernet Controller driver must be missing, i.e. yellow question mark and exclamation mark. Also installed under 'Network' is the Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Netowork Connection. I know very little about computers, and at this point, honestly, know more than I want to! After a few weeks waiting for the Installation CD's to arrive, so they could walk me through driver installation, the driver apparently isn't on the CD's. Now I'm being told the problem is with our DSL. No one else has experienced any connection issues. We have three other Dell systems currently in use at our office. I know very little about what I'm doing, or in need of, but, obviously, willing to do what I need to. Can anyone help me?

Personally, if I were you I'd tell Dell where they can stick that computer. If they're too stupid to fix the problem they should replace the computer. I'd tell them that you had your ISP for your DSL come out and test your lines and everything is working like it should be and the problem is the computer. Then I'd tell them to either fix the computer or you'll find another company to deal with. Don't let them push you around and charge you for a bunch of stuff because I guarantee that's what they'll try to do. Sorry I couldn't really be of more help but for an issue like that I'd have to physically look at and test the computer myself.

Thanks, Padams. Thankfully, I'm still under warranty. I've been all over the internet and have read of multitudes of people with the same issue, i.e. yellow question mark and exclamation mark over ethernet controller after installation of new motherboard, but no resolutions. Rather scarey. Guess all I can do is trust that when they keep telling me they'll resolve the issue, they will. Wish I had a computer specialist like you guys close! I'd gladly pay someone if I knew it could be resolved.
