Ethernet Controllers

    Hi,
    My buddy downgraded to XP Pro from Vista on his Compaq Presario C765TU Notebook which is compatible with Vista.
    He had problems with finding the right drivers and got some help herehttp://www.zyxware.com/articles/2008/12/04/compaq-presario-c765tu-laptop-drivers-for-windows-xp
    But the Device Manager still shows an unidentified device(Ethernet Controller)which I believe to be Wireless Network Adapter.
    As a normal Desktop user,I'm confounded by the array of devices in Laptops.Please help me in finding the drivers for this device.

    This should be the XP-32bit driver for the Intel 3945ABG WIFI card. I couldn't link to it on the Intel site so I downloaded it to my site.. [Link removed as per request from user]

    Hi Shnerdly,
    Many thanks for your kind gesture of providing the link in your website.
    But I fear, as a couple of Driver Scanners revealed, the device is Atheros AR5007 802.11 b/g and not Intel. I even downloaded the drivers from here .The drivers failed to install properly or maybe I missed something along the way.

    Hi

    At times those driver scanners are useless.

    In Device Manager what items have yellow ! mark next to them?

    Did you install the Intel Chipset driver? if not do so as that allows other devices to be recognised correctly.


    Could you do the below as written...
