I checked my event log this morning (Win2000Pro) and read this error message; 'The Driver Detected a Controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\DRO.' Anyone have an idea what that means? I'm using the NVIDIA nForce2 ATA controller (v2.6) which came with the motherboard. Actually, I upgraded the controller from the one that came with the MB. Would it be advisable to delete that controller and use the one that came with Win2000? My machine appears to be running fine, but I just do not like error messages and would like to correct this one.
The only change I made was to install a new HDD, because my 7 month old Maxtor went south on me. It was replaced with an almost identical HDD, the only difference being is the new one is a 40gig single platter as opposed to the 80gig that went south. Thanks!!

Clear the logs and see if the error returns.

If it does, then I'd try the Windows 2000 IDE driver, yes.

Sorry it took so long to reply. Thank you for the advice and I am going to try it as soonn as my 5 year old gives me a breather!!:)

Yep, that did it!! For some reason, those nVidia drivers kept creating that error, but now that I'm back with the Win2000 drivers the error is no more!! THANKS!!!!
