I Just heard from my friend Nick that Amber Noble, a friend of mine and former co-worker, passed away in a car accident down in South Carolina. He didn't really know the details... He's friends with her boyfriend's family and just recieved the news...

Amber was a fun, engaging person who always made working for a beastly company bearable. She made you smile when you were ready to murder people and she was a good friend. I know I'll miss her...

Last night I couldn't sleep, and was thinking about it. I did some google searches. It's actually South Carolina. Apparently the accident was Sunday and she died that night. Here are the two news stories from that Area I found with more details.

    Berkeley County crash fatal
A 28-year-old North Charleston woman died in a traffic accident on Interstate 26 in Berkeley County on Sunday night, according to the S.C.

Highway Patrol and the Berkeley Count Coroner’s Office

According to Berkeley County Coroner Glen Rhoad, Amber Noble was in a car that went off the freeway and hit some trees at about 6:55 p.m. Sunday. She was transported to Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, where she was pronounced dead at about 10:33 p.m.

She was wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol..

Woman dies after I-26 accident Tuesday, July 29, 2008
RIDGEVILLE (Berkeley County, SC) — A 28-year-old North Charles-ton woman died after a traffic accident on Interstate 26 in Berkeley County on Sunday night, authorities said.

Amber Noble was a passenger in her boyfriend's 1999 Chevrolet pickup when it crashed near the 187 mile marker at 6:55 p.m., Berkeley County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Salisbury said.

The truck had been entering the eastbound lanes when the driver lost control, went off the right side of the road and struck several trees, Salisbury said.

Noble, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, was taken to Trident Regional Medical Center, where she died at 10:30 p.m., Salisbury said.

The cause of death was head and body trauma, the coroner said.

So that... was just very sad. In the realms of very happy...
    I saved a life :)

The other night Kevin found him just lying in the center of the dining room. He's too little to survive on his own - His eyes aren't open and he has no teeth. He has to be a week old. We have no idea where we came from, because there wasn't a mark on him. If one of the cats brought him in they just left him there. Kevin thought he was dead, but I saw that he wasn't and I scooped him up. I made him a bed in a flower pot and vowed if he were still alive in the morning I would take care of him.

My pregnant rationale is that he's the same size as MY baby and he's completely helpless and needs a mommy. So the next morning I bought an aquarium and supplies. I bought a medicine dropper and got some synthetic mother's milk from the vet and I've been feeding him by hand for two days. He thinks I'm his momma and will crawl out of the nest i made him into my hand and go to sleep. He's the cutest thing EVER.. and since he wont know how to survive I've made arrangements to keep him and take care of him.

Now I just have to figure out where he came from, because theres never just one mouse. But theres no sign of them in the Kitchen or droppings or chewed boxes anywhere. They might be huddleing in the basement to get out of all the rain we've had and happened to be in the wrong place when the Cat's came down.

But he's so small and perfect. He doesn't even have fur yet, he just has skin thats gray where the fur will be when he grows into it, and his little eyes are closed. he sniffs me and nuzzles into the creases of my hand and eats fake mommy milk from a medicine dropper. He's even too little to potty, I have to hold him on his back and swab him with a warm Q-tip to make him go. He's doing REALLY well. I hope he makes it.

Sorry to hear about your friend Wenchie, my condolences. :(

Now about that mouse, you're right that there must be a nest around but most likely it has been moved since. You have made an investment in this one and I don't have a problem with that but the nest could be very problematical for you as these rodents destroy houses if it's inside.

Case in point, I had to leave the house for a month one late October, which is when they come in here every year. When I got back it was a disaster area with flour bags gnawed open, soap bars eaten, poo all over the place etc. In the end, I had to trap 9 mice.

    Anyways, enjoy your little friend.:)

Yeah I bought those humane traps where you put a cracker with some peanut butter on it in the back and the mouse runs in. It then closes and it can't get back out, but it's trapped there until you let it out. I'm going to take them up the street a mile or so to the berry briar patch, so they have shelter, and let them out.

They're just living. Might as well give them the chance to keep doing it.

But like i said, I have 3 cats... They haven't come out but the cats know they're there... I had to bolt the basement door to keep them out so I don't get any more suprizes

I've only used a live trap for the gophers that I had this summer, like four of them.:eek Mice that are inside are lured in by a peanut butter spring trap, perhaps not to everyone's liking but so be it. If the nest is truly in your basement then they'll be upstairs soon enough.

There was a family of prairie dogs under our front steps last year - you could hear them chattering away to themselves all day long! :-D I found one in a window well after a particularly bad storm, and tried to convince him to crawl onto a shovel that was laying in there already - he decided instead that he wanted to eat my finger! :eek

@Wenchie: Sorry to hear about your friend - that seems to happen all too often nowadays.
