Everything has disappeared!!

Earlier today, I was looking through some websites and all of a sudden, tons of popups started to appear on my screen...then programs began installing themselves before I could stop them. I was going to try to restore the computer back to yesterday, but before I could do so, my desktop disappered and even though I have tried restarting about 10 times, it won't come back. All I can see is the background...no Start bar or icons.

I looked through the tutorials I was supposed to complete before I ask for help but couldn't figure out how to do any of them with no desktop. My computer won't do anything...I'm typing this on another computer right now. Anyway, is there a way for me to start the computer in safe mode or something like that... and is there any way to fix this?? Thanks SO Much!

If i were you, install the programs and run them in safe mode.
Press F8 just a second after turning on your computer and seeing the text on screen...or a couple of seconds after.

Does the taskbar show up at all? (in regular mode)

No, the taskbar doesn't show up at all...just my desktop background, nothing else.
