    Hello code gurus,

I am running a W7 machine. I am finding that it runs to 100% CPU usage for no obvious reason.

Mouse movement happens but any attempt at open, closing or switching between screen becomes cumbersome. If it moves at all it might be 5 or 6 minutes. I am finding this even on local connections to my external hard drives. Sometimes I just have to do a hard re-boot as nothing responds at all.

Thinking it might be some goofy string, I have run CCleaner and Malwarebytes in the past. Neither seem to make a difference. Ran SuperAntiSpyware and found a few little trackers, got rid of them. Still having trouble.

I use FFox and IE browsers. I usually do have about 5 Skype windows open as that is part of my connection with my company. My video card has 1gig processor on board. So I don't think its the graphics.

I look at the various tabs of Task Manager and can see that FFox and Skype are at the top usage, followed by Thunderbird.

Is this an issue with a recent MSoft update maybe?

I ran the anti malware gambit to give you something to look at. Malwarebytes turned up nothing. Attaching the SuperAntiSpyware report from a few days ago. Not much there either. But maybe it will give you more clues.

Thanks to all of you for your tireless help.

Didn't look like my reports attached. Trying again.

This doesn't appear to be a malware issue. What other things are happening?

    Thanks TimW,

That is the only symptom I've noticed so far. Sometimes it will go a day or so before overuse kicks in. It seems to kick in without any obvious software launched.

I've disabled many of the startup items, to see if any of them are kicking on and causing it. But still the system will go into overuse.

A friend mentioned, yesterday, he had a problem something like it on his tablet. He deleted the multiples entries for Silverlight in his registry. He says that helped some. I can see multiple entries for Silverlight, but they appear to me to be the various languages.

I was wondering if the machine has been tapped by 3rd parties to use as a processor. But that sort of code would show up in a anti-vi sweep wouldn't it?

Yes, it would. I suggest you post in the software forum for further assistance.

Since you are not having any malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
