    Hi,

    First time posting.

I ran Superantispyware and removed a broken file association for exe. Since then every time I boot I can't run anything until I add exe to the file types as an application. It's OK until I reboot.

I've run the scans you suggest and have added the logs to this post.

Hopefully you will be able to help.

To repair broken EXE file associations, download the correct registry fix to match the verson of Windows you are running by click the appropriate blue link below.
    1. You can use Right-click and Save as ( or Save Target As ) option in your browser to download the patch.
    2. Save the patch file directly to your Desktop folder.
    3. Right-click the REG file and choose Merge. Alternately, you can open the Registry Editor and then using the Import option from the File menu, to merge the REG file contents.
    4. Note that you need to be an administrator to apply these fixes.

    Thanks but that didn't work.

I copied the reg file to a thumb drive, Then booted the problem PC into safe mode and logged on as Administrator.

I copied the reg file to the desktop, did the merge. I was then able to run programs without any problem.

How ever after a re-boot the problem is back. :(

The only thing I am finding in your logs is this: E:\WINDOWS\TEMP\zmck3nq7.tmp Remove it. Go here and scroll down to the exe file fix: Fix Exe Association I am afraid that if that still doesn't work you will have to post in the software forum for additional assistance.

    OK, that didn't work either.

I was able to fix this by restoring to a previous state. Back to Sept 22nd. There were two reasons I hadn't tried this. First I didn't know if I was infected and for how long. Second I couldn't find system restore under Accessories, System Tools.

So since you've indicated there is probably no infection, I searched for system restore and ran it, with success.

    Thanks,

    gewilli.
