About two week ago, explorer.exe started hanging during shutdown. So far it's happened 9 out of 11 days. Naturally I ran anti-virus and spyware scans which didn't find anything. My HJT logs were also clean. So I used the search function to see what files had been modified, created, and accessed that day. That's when I discovered that my wbemess.lo_ file had been modified and questionable things were in wbemess.log. I suspect these things are related to Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection but I can't be sure. I don't know what that is exactly but ever since I bought this computer years ago it's had a Red X over the icon.

Then today I noticed that two more logs had been modified with questionable things in them. One is FrameWork.log and the other is Setupapi.log.

The only thing in the Event Viewer related to these problems is this:
The attempt to power off <computer> failed.
    Event ID: 1073

But this only appears on 4 of the 9 days explorer.exe hung during shutdown.
    ------------------------------------------------

So this is what wbemess.log has been showing everyday when I start my computer:

Can anyone tell me what's going on here?
