i run spybot resident etc, and take very good care of my pc, i havent been invected for like a year and have become rusty on all the new crap out...

well i went to a site cant remember what it was, and something installed itself randomly, brought up a cmd window and the underline cursor _ was blinking back and forth across the screen. I immediatly scanned fixed everything i could think of using more than one tool.

i restarted my pc and bam before the windows GUI comes up, it says explorer.exe had a exceptional error, and i cant even type it in the task manager as it creats the same error...

so i did safe mode, nope, i finally did safe mode with the directory repair service and walla i can log on, but if i hibernate it gives the same error, and i have to restart with same thing going on...

spybot finds teslaplus.com...and that stupid cmd box with the flying cursor comes up everytime i restart windows....how do i fix this? without doing a fresh install...

the location of the file is this C:\Docume~1\RAC-1863\Locals~1\temp\setup.exe

Are you in a state where you can connect to the internet and download and install programs. If so, run the below procedure.

First start by going to C:\Documents and Settings\RAC-1863\Local Settings\temp and delete all files in this Temp folder.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis

Well i did, and i found nothing suspicious or if i did deleted and restarted with same result...(hijack this)

i have tons of tools from a pc tech job i worked at a year ago, and i get a monthly tech cd from my friend there...updates done on the tools i used from cd

in my post i stated what mode i was able to boot up into and i also stated what spybot finds...and i only know the spot of the file because of the cmd window that pops up thats the directory it says...and have deleted the tmp folder, before posting....

i have AVG antivirus, and run trendmicros online free one and another antiscan (used panda and i always find something panda doesnt with trends scans on invected pc's...)

at any rate here is the hijack this log, everything i see looks ok to me, and the ones i didnt know i deleted, this is my latest log...

Please follow the directions I gave to you!

    - No logs should be posted inline!!!! They must be attachments
    - You have Spybot's Teatimer function running which we specifically request not to run.
    - You did not run MS Windows Defender
    - You skipped step 6 with two online scanners and the logs must be attached.
    - You skipped step 7 and thus did not install HijackThis properly and also posted an inline log.
    - You are running HijackThis twice (both from the wrong location). It should only be running once.

found simple fix, restore pc to earlier date...fixed it

and as for step 7, i already stated that i could NOT BOOT IN NORMAL MODE, and was using a special safe mode, not the normal one...

at any rate, looks like your stuck on steps and steps, and failed to realize i couldnt do most of those steps, and i dont like panda scan, i have other progams that do a much better job of removing virus imhho...

and i failed to put hijack this from the desktop to a real folder...

at any rate, i failed a install, which has never caused hijackthis to run improperly for me, not saying it wont just for me, and you failed to read my problem throughly because i didnt do the steps....

so yea, easy fix, return to ealier date, now clean as a new whistle
