explorer.exe problem

HELP!!!i believe my computer had been infected by two trojans
1.TR/WMA.Wimad.D.T
2.TR/Drop.Web.381.5.B
I ran antivir program which said the trojan spyware had been deleted. But now everytime i switch on my comuter it freezes and all the keys become in-active. when i press ctrl+alt+del, and restart the computer again, it says explorer.exe ecountered a problem and needs to close!!PLEASE HELP!!i believe the trojans might have altered my computers start up registry keys.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

• Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
• Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
• Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

• After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

• When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
  • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
  • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat[/B]
  • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
  • Bitdefender - from step 6
  • Panda Scan - from step 6
  • HijackThis

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

 

Thanks for the reply,the explorer issue prevented me from downloading any other scan programs including the ones you listed. However i just ran sytem restore and it appears to have fixed the problem. So for anyone else who has the same problem to do a system restore if you have windows xp like i do,and make sure you do a full spyware scan/virus before you do thi as you might still have them on your computer.So system restore will just escalate the problem.

Glad you got it fixed. restore points are locked so if you have prior restore points (which you will have now) you need to flush them and create a new clean one as instructed in step 1 of the readme.

Are you SURE you are clean ?
