Let me start off by saying this week is the worse week in a very long time. I need help big time :(

    okay here is the deal.

I start the machine up the machine then brings me to the log in screen. Whether I log in as admin or the user I still get the same result. A dialog box pops up that says error with nothing else but a ok button. Then the screen goes to a blank blue screen and the only thing I can interact with is a mouse pointer.

I reboot and go into safe mood one with networking and one without. Both do the samething. This time I get a messege that says explorer.exe error, generating log and then it says you must reboot.

I have tried doing a repair via the OS disk but that didn't work.

    Any suggestions would be great.

    Thx in advance

    What is your os?

Is that all the error message says? No number or anything? Does event viewer list anything that might help us to solve your problem?

    windows 2000,

The only thing I can see is the log in screen. Once I log in it will not allow me to view anything other than a box that says error with a ok button. once you click that the screen is just blue nothing else. I can not get into the OS at all.

Can you boot into Safe Mode?

I boot into safe mood and the samething occurs with the exception that the error messege is much more detailed. Something along the lines of explorer.exe error, windows is generating error log something to that extent. Then after that it goes to a blue or black screen and the only thing that can be seen is a mouse arrow. Nothing more nothing less. :( I am at my wits end. I am thinking to reformat but the user has data that needs to be saved and there is no way to back that data up to my knowledge without going through the GUI no? If I could pull the data I would say forget about it and just re install
