Explorer Opens Any Site Except Facebook

For some reason when I try to open FB it just goes on trying to load forever. Other sites seem to work just fine. This has been happening for several days, and the only change I'm aware of having made to my system was to download a new version of Google Chrome (Chrome Version 55.0.2883.87 m (64-bit)). It is not my default browser and I'd rather not use it.
I can't figure out what version of Explorer I have. When I look under Previous Versions the most recent is dated October 2016. I used to find versions by clicking on properties but it isn't there.
I use JavaScript toggle on/off. Toggling on doesn't help, HTTPS everywhere which has never been a problem before, and Avast online security which also has never caused a problem for me.
I suspect this is something simple - ideas?

Open Internet Explorer > Click on the far right top 'settings' icon and click on 'About Internet Explorer' and it will say what version. The version you have will depend on what Operating System you have, as the latest version of IE only works in the later fully updated OSs.

 

Here's the version I have:
The "about" was ghosted on the non-loading facebook page, worked fine on others.
