Explorer wont work!

I have a HP pavillion computer with amd 1600 mhz, 512 ram. Recently started having problems with popups and automatically changed home page. Now my explorer will not open, instead a message saying that an error has occurs only comes up and it will not open. My computer probably has some kind of virus but my Norton antivirus doesnt seem to pick anything up and it is up to date.

you shoud run SpyBot to clean your system because you have backweb among a zillion other search bar stuff.

Hi, I come from various other Spyware and Security Forums and am qualified to analyze HijackThis logs I hope it is okay to answer this poster here with some steps to solve his problem.

First, you have a CoolWebSearch hijacker and that needs a special (free) tool to remove it called CWShredder.

Just download it, and click on it (You will need to have all browsers and any open windows closed). Hit the *Fix* button to run it. Let it fix what it finds. When done, press *next* and you will get the results, and then *exit*

Reboot your PC after cleaning with CWShredder

Next, you have a lot of spyware and hijackers on that PC. Please first download, get updates for it and run this free Antispyware scanner. Updating it first is very important - please do not skip that step.

Download Adaware (get the free edition)

Download, install it and open it. Click on the *Check for Updates Now* button and *connect*. Let it download and install the updates. Then press *scan now*. Let it remove what it finds. This will not be effective without the Updates.....please do NOT skip that step!

When done, reboot your PC
