Can some of you check if you are getting this problem, please?

If I bring up task manager with no IE8.0 windows open there is no iexplore.exe showing. When I start IE, iexplore.exe shows up twice and stays there. If I start a second IE window, then task manager shows three iexplore.exe running. If, with only one window open (two iexplore.exe showing), I click one of them in task manager and I "end process" they both go away.

This scares me. I have run three different malware, and antivirus programs.

    Thanks In Advance,
    Pete

This is totally normal for IE. When you first launch IE, an IE process is created with a child process for each tab opened.
When you launch what is seemingly another instance of IE, you'll see another window and tab, but the new window is actually an instance of the originally launched IE.

For a better understanding of the behaviour, I suggest downloading Process Explorer where you'll be able to see the parent - child process relationship.

    _nullptr,

Thanks. Now that you mention it, I have process explorer from long ago. I didn't know it could do that. I need to learn some more.

Too many things so little time.

    Thanks Again,
    Pete
