Extreme Internet Slowdown after accessign website

Ok, personally the issue sounds like spyware to me but to just be sure....

A friend of mine has to access a website: www.webassign.net in order to submit homework. Now the problem is, she accessed the site one day recently and ever since has had extreme internet slowdowns (taking forever to get to sites). She's tried virus scanning but found nothing. Also, the exact same thing happened to her friend's computer.

Any ideas? I really don't know the specs of the two systems other than that they are laptops....

 

I hate to be a nuisance, but I'm trying to find a solution ASAP.
