My laptop became extremely slow since trying to burn a DVD image with a 'portable' version of powerISO I downloaded... slow means not being able to playback an mp3 song....

I did all the steps detailed in the malware removal guide and nothing was found while the problem remains...

Any help would be deeply appreciated...

    Hi giogio2008!
    Welcome to Major Geeks.

Did you try going back to a restore point from before this took place? This would be the easiest way to recover your computer's functionality. If you've never reset a restore point, it is done as follows:

Go to Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore

Here you will have several options and one of them is to return the computer to an earlier restore point. Click on this and then click on next. You will see a calendar and if you've had your restore points turned on, those dates to which you can return your computer will be in bold print. Select one from before this misfortune occurred.

If you can do this, please try it before doing anything further. Let me know how it goes.
    Thanks.

    dear abri,

thanks a lot for your suggestion... it actually worked !!

I restored the laptop a few days back and it now works normally. I wonder what the problem was... malware or some kind of corruption caused by running something ?

anyway... thanks a lot for your help !!!!

    You're welcome!
I suspect it wasn't a malware problem, but more likely a software conflict. In light of the complexity of all the software, it's probably more surprising that so much diversity works together at all and that there aren't more problems than there are.

In going back to an earlier restore point, you lost whatever you'd installed. I recommend not trying to install it again, but to look for some other piece of software that does what you want it to do.
