F@H Making weird noises lol

I decided to download F@H and help out, it takes around 26 minuts on my processor(3.2ghz P4) to complete one fold seems like alot of time to me. But i noticed evertime it refreshes the picture my computer makes a squeeking noise, and my speakers are powered off. Does anyone else get this? is my computer retarted or something? It also is quieter when i lower its CPU usage (or so it seems). Should I try the console client instead

 

My pc makes squeaking noises similar to that when I scroll down a webpage using Opera...

 

Are you sure it is your computer? My monitor every once in a while howls and makes high pitched noises. Especially if it is doing somewhat complex graphics at a real high refresh rate.

 

Ok that's not normal.

With onboard sound cards it's quite normal for noise to enter the system from other components, for example memory access or transmitted graphics data - so while a CPU intensive task is running you can sometimes get noise with a frequency related to the speed of operation.

However, if you are certain that your sound card isn't plugged into anything, I would suggest that it is your graphics card fan is being temporarily put up to full speed while it is rendering the frame. If it's squeaking that seems pretty bad news.

It's definitely a hardware issue, as F@H doesn't have any magical code that causes your computer to squeak ....
