It cracks me up that people want you to water your crops more than you do,they can't just stand by and let the fake pixelated fruit wilt, its like an itch that has to be scratched :-D

    I don't doubt she could - I'll ask her. :)

She's been berating me because I've let my crops die, have no animals (except a cat she gave me) and can't seem to get in the "spirit" of the game . . . :-D

How did you get rid of it, dy? The only option for the friend button that I saw when I was setting up was to either allow it for everyone or friend of a friend.

I have mine set to a friend of a friend. It's the strictest it will let you go :/ but If you click on "preview my profile" (you get to see it how everyone sees it) there is no "add as friend" button. I wish I could let only friends add me but would kind of defeat the point as they are already friends :-D

I also took off the option to message me, been gettin random messages again from people I'd rather not talk to rolleyes

It may be a hit or miss thing... it worked on my profile, though I did get the message "please be patient if it doesn't work yet, we're working on it". They have a Facebook page (of course) where they post updates to the tool.

new IDs, new webmail is just tooooooo easy. even the strictest goody two shoes will do it.

back to the OP, most users WELCOME friend of a friend requests. and like 1/3 of all users routinely just add EVERYONE.

i don't play any games whatsoever. but i do routinely add babes i see in others lists....

    :drool

if you've been reduced to adding randomers, i think somebody needs to get out more...

theres only one person i don't know on my friend list: some kid in kuala lumpur :-D i only accepted because of their sheer dedication. i rejected the request about 10 times, but they still kept adding me, so i gave in in the end

hehe you guys have lost the battle already...you don't need another account :-D my mum was my friend to begin with shame to say... no longer :-o and you can stop people seeing your profile etc... goodbye parents

Which would I'm sure be why there are strict privacy controls on FB.;)

well, i figure they'd NOTICE that, and come looking to follow up in the real world.

the point is to leave the original acct there as a DECOY...while having all your freewheeling unchaperoned fun in the SHADOW acct.

    my two cents.

OK, this is also a "facebook block", but diff enuf to warrant its own thread, I believe.

While signing up for a (new) facebook ID, I accidentally selected a rather recent birthyear. Making me 11 years old or so.

Right away I knew "this is going to bounce", and indeed, it stopped the signup process and told me "You are ineligible to register for Facebook."

Which is all fine and dandy. Problem is, it has also TAGGED the PC somehow, such that I can't even ATTEMPT to sign up for any OTHER IDs! The very homepage permanently now declares "You are ineligible to register for Facebook".

Mercifully, it lets me into my EXISTING accts -- wasn't really sure it would -- but once I'm out and back on the homepage, up returns that MESSAGE.

I wiped my caches/internet history -- which should have taken away any COOKIES -- but still it persists. Where exactly do I go to find the specific thing blocking me here?

    This is annoying beyond words.

Fortunately, I managed to make the ID using Firefox...but IE is definitely out of commission here.

    :(

I think it's linked to the email address you used. Try with a different email.

  21. CatT

CatT I can't follow the rules

there is no email address. the whole signup section is gone.

it is somehow "sensing" that this is the same pc where a youth attempted earlier.

it is a cookies/cache type problem.

  22. Rikky

It can only be a few things, your ISP,your browser, your IP or your location if you've cleaned your cookies.

    http://www.ipchicken.com/

I'm just 'assuming' that your specific combination has now been blacklisted to stop kids signing up as changing just one part 'the browser' allows it to work.

It may reset after a while or if you know you have a dynamic IP address reset your router and computer and try again.
You may be able to bypass it by changing your IE version also.

Just some suggestions I'm not sure how the block works.

And of course, you can also try a proxy.

perhaps one of the things u mentioned.

If your not my friend on facebook then all you can see, if you somehow manage to locate my profile, is my name (I don't even use my full name), a picture (that is not even of me :-D ) and the fact that I am a female.. that's it! and that's the way I like it! ;)

  28. Mimsy

That is very true. I try to help my friends with their settings too, I guess they expect me to cuz I'm already known as the computer fixer lady :-D

Same here for me now - my security settings are as high as I can set them . . . though the picture is of me (Or was - it's now the USAF seal).

I did have a bad habit of just adding people as "friends" when I really didn't know them (friends of friends, I guess). I felt it was kinda rude not too rolleyes . . . then I realised how dumb that was. I "unfriended" about 20 people. I don't really do much with it now.

I have an account now with 3 friends. I've had 2 people from my family request to add me. So far I've ignored them. LOL I guess I'll have to okay family.

  33. dyamond

    dyamond Imelda Marcos of Majorgeeks

roflmao Laura.. that's funny. You could always "accidentally" hit the ignore button :innocent LOL

CatT I can't follow the rules

i don't see what the big deal is. i wouldn't want my FRIENDS to know anything abt me; strangers might actually be tolerable!

i add pretty much anyone and everyone, but there's nothing "there" there.

and most of my accts have phony name, random avatar, etc etc. anyways. there is no great reason to guard against the privacy of "CatT".

that link down there, btw -- have a look! i didn't know how to paste it directly into my post.

    FB double click

anyone else notice that when u log out of FB, the login section can't pull up your autofill entries? u actually have to click on the FB logo itself, to bring you to the "real" FB homepage.

whats up widdat? it's like the first one is some sort of logout "limbo". and yet, they both LOOK identical.

    ????

  36. CatT

CatT I can't follow the rules

NEW TWIST: one or two ppl i've tried friending do indeed have the "add as a friend link", but when u click on it, up comes a popup "This Request Can't Be Sent -- Do you know this user personally? To prevent misuse of Facebook, this request can't be sent. To learn more, please visit the Help Center."

Huh? Then why'd it offer the link?!

Moreover, why bother ASKING whether I know the user, if it's not gonna offer some alternate course of action?

Too late now you have just split your family in two! :seeya You think not sending a Christmas card or remembering a birthday was bad Laura?

Try not accepting close friends and family's friend requests on Facebook! :eek

hehe or you just do the tricks i do: accept them then after about a week delete them from your friends :-D they get no notification of it and generally takes several months for them to figure why it didn't show your birthday :cool OR you change your details so they say you live in saudi arabia and are about 20 pull a pic from google and hey presto nobody bothers you :-D OR you just spam their page with loads of links to random web pages so much that they are the ones that terminate the 'friendship' :-D this one generally does damage the real life relationship though.... trust me, 60 notifictions form 1 person everytime you log in gets to you after a while
