Facebook Videos Displayed Mess

    Yet another query from me.

So,I recently got a house-garden-and-kitchen laptop from my dad to run my basic things with (decided to go for this one first, and eventually save up for a more powerful one to run my big games on as well).
I enjoy using this laptop, however, the thing I hate is when I try to watch a video on Facebook; it's zoomed in beyond recognition, and I cannot find a way to fix it.

If it helps, it's a HP 255 G3, running Windows 8.1 (which is a new experience for me as is lol). Browser used it Chrome - up to date.
As far as I can tell, all drivers are up to date and working properly.

If anyone knows how I can resolve this, please let me know - a virtual hug is your reward, along with many thank yous :)

Does this only happen in Facebook?
    Have you tried another browser?
Is a 3rd party programme being used to play video on FB instead of its default player?

Lappy is likely to be corrupt.
If other parts of your pc such as documents behave abnormally this will confirm my guess.
Your description is not normal behaviour for a browser.

Only happens on the laptop. I'll see if it happens on a different browser (but by heavens.. not going to try IE LOL). Did show some videos properly earlier today, then it started being a mess again.

It's only a week old... Done the crappy FB videos since the beginning.

Save all known files to an external hard drive and do the same with programs and reset your pc.
Otherwise see a pc expert in a shop and be prepared to pay upwards of £30.

You need to confirm - before anything else - whether the problem you see shows itself in ANY web browser. There is no good reason NOT to test it in Internet Explorer, the comment about not using it for this is not sensible. Run Internet Explorer > log into Facebook and see if the problem happens there. Do the same with Firefox or Opera.
Until you have established whether it is web browser or system based, the other advice is not useful at this moment.
There is no need for you to go to a PC Repair shop at this stage - or at all.
There are people more knowledgable and more experienced HERE than in many so-called 'repair' shops.

I tried Firefox as a test, and same as Chrome: First few run fine, then it's a mess.
As to why I don't want to use IE: Somehow IE and I never got along, sites not working for me when they did for others (even in school lol).

*If* I was going to take it to a shop, I'd go to the store where I bought it, since it's still under warranty for another year.

I think you should do this.

I threw out some unneeded programs on the laptop, and oddly it is working normal now - or at least for the time being.
Found some Apple program, few other things I don't need that are properly uninstalled, and it runs better.

Tried Comodo browser, and same issue persists with the videos. I can watch youtube and streaming media without issues, just facebook; that doesn't want to cooperate... Again the first few videos of the day ran fine, and now it messes up again.

    Drives me batty....

It seems clear that the problem is with Facebook videos only, since there are no similar problems elsewhere.
You also state that, at first, Facebook videos play properly but eventually get messed up.

I can tell you that from my experience, Facebook videos have been notoriously problematic.

Here are two things you can try:

If you want to consider updating drivers, post a new thread in the Hardware forum and ask if they advise doing that and get help with instructions.

Here is the HP Support Drivers and Software download page for your laptop:

Think I should note that the Facebook setting to enable/disable auto-play for videos does not appear in the Pale Moon browser version 27.1.1.
I have not found an explanation for this, however there are two settings in about:config that might?? be related:
    media.autoplay.enabled
    media.autoplay.allowscripted

I have not tested modification of those settings from the default values "true".

I am very happy to say that the long term problems with Facebook videos in Pale Moon have now been corrected in version 27.1.x, as far as I can tell. :)

I have turned off the auto-play thing, it irritated me anyway. It did help - for a while (see below).

Sadl,y I discovered that since the recent update of Flash player, I can't even watch streaming videos anymore.. Same big, blurry mess. Audio is fine, but it's no fun listening to your favourite series /movie, is it? :p Long story short; it seems that Flash player is the cuplrit, or at least part in t.. Just no idea what or how to fix it.

Maybe I am stupid, but I don't understand what use it is in relation to my problem?
It works on PC and mobile, just not laptop. On here, even streaming videos failed since recent Flash update. (as I stated above..)

You are saying your problem is ONLY on Facebook, and not every time:
And you do need to try as many web browsers as possible (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera) to properly establish whether it is browser-specific or not. And don't rule out trying IE since this is only for TESTING. No one is telling you to use it normally every day.
Aside from you removing other programs you mentioned in post #10, there may be something else on that laptop causing issues but we can't know what that is.

Hi my friend . what is the exact model of your Laptop ? At the bottom of the laptop a sticker is located with model of your laptop or on the battery's place , this cause is common in high cpu usage especially if the cpu is AMD

I tried Firefox,Chrome, Comodo, IE.. they all had the same result. Laptop did run a few updates last night, and I installed VLC media player (like it better the WMP for movies). At the moment, the videos appear to function. Probably will know more about that later today. At this point, all browsers I tried work as should - just a matter to find if it is only for now, or for good.

I'd think that is still is as is stated in my starter post, HP 255 G3? Unless that is not what you are asking about?

( @Everyone: May have come across rude before, but I am by no means cross with anyone, sadly the intonation doesn't work in text :( )

    If your laptop is

    http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc...laptops-and-netbooks/hp-255-g3-1283830/review

then , your hdd is slow like turtle , also you could download this

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/hwmonitor.html

checking the temperature of your laptop , my option is that , you could run one browser only , close Flash Player

    https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Vide...quot-click-to-play-quot-on-Firefox/ta-p/37757

because eat a lot of ram , be cool , even you could run an online scanner like this one

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/f‑secure_online_scanner.html

even , what is your hdd's free capacity ? Run this tool

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/hard_disk_sentinel.html

let us know about your hdd's model and Health - Performance status ;)

I think it is obviously clear that it is an HP 255 G3, right? Is only stated in the original post that I have it.
So, because you say it is slow, I should install even more tools?
Free capacity more than abundant, only have a little corner in use... (before you start picking me apart over it, of the 444GB there is 385 GB free ( I am leaving the Recovery sitting in it's own corner as is, not going to remove because some thinks I should)).

And, further info, I only run 1 browser at a time.....Not like I run them all at once, I am not born in a cave....

I don't think the issue is anything to do with your system at all.
I would stick to the posts from mjnc #13 and #14 but I doubt a driver update will help if the only sight giving problems is Facebook. The golden rule for driver updates is - 'If your system overall is working fine, don't update them!'

I have the same idea, will go re-read the posts carefully and see what goes.

System works fine, I can even keep up with the other group members in the online multiplayer I play, no lag or anything. So,I am wondering if it is wise to update the drivers (if available). Granted, one reason I wanted this laptop was for the games I run online (the heavy stuff I still run on the PC, such as StarCraft II and the likes :) ), and to watch my series /films online anywhere anytime.

In the meantime, I have removed all Adobe Flash installations (turns out it had 2 installations /components hidden), also removed Shockwave. No effect, except that my Naruto game runs smoother O.O
The graphics driver that is currently installed, is NEWER than the driver provided in the link.

Now, not sure what this causes or if it is by any chance related to the display issues already existing, but perhaps someone can help me figure out what is going on.

As soon as I plug in the charger to the laptop, the video I am watching suddenly becomes zoomed in to to the point it is not recognizable. When I remove the charger, split second later it returns to normal.

Try going into your Power Options > Change Plan settings > Change Advanced Power Settings> Multimedia Settings >When playing video and make sure Optomize video setting is chosen. Does that make a difference?

I cannot find what you describe, not sure where it is.

Other note: I was running a Detection tool to see if the laptop could run a game on Steam - the Detection thingy informed me the driver is outdated (oddly enough, I have never found it before no matter how I searched - hence why I stubbornly was convinced it was up to date).

WOn't let me edit for some odd reason..

One point it stated the drivers was newer than I could find before, and now it suddenly is years outdated..
Well.. it is gone now by accident, but it displayed being up to date and then out of date o.o

Power Options are found via the Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Power Options.

Thank you both :) It is optimized for video display, but it still happens.

I found a driver update-tool, that I had run and seems to have updated the video driver. Haven't tested FB yet, but will later on.
