    Hi there

I have a pc which is about 10 years or more old I need to put it back to factory settings.
I have tried f11 f8 f10 and I can't seem to get the screen up.
It has 3 partitions so I'm guessing it has a function to set it back to original settings.
    Its a centreprise Intel(r) Pentium 4 CPU 2.60GHz. 2.59GHz, 448 Mb of ram
    Microsoft windows XP
    Home edition
    Version 2002
    Service pack 2

    Can you help please

There are Infinity computers listed for Uganda, Sri Lanka and Williamsburg VA. Do any of these apply to your location?

No Dolly, they're asking you who built the PC. ???
Like Hewlett Packard (HP) or Compaq, or Acer, names like that.
It should be on the case someplace, unless the computer was put together locally by some individual.

What exactly are you trying to do? Going back to "Factory" will probably not avail you much, not as much
as getting a copy of Service Pack 3 and installing that. Service Pack 2 is woefully out of date. The best
thing that ever happened to XP was SP3, and without that, it's pretty sick.

    Good Luck,

    Hi
    earthling
It's not dell or Hp or any well known name like that..It has infinity on front and centreprise sticker on back plus product key nothing else..

    The shadow
I want to take it back to factory settings then i will update to service pack 3.. I've tried ctrl f11,f10,f8 etc..
Is there anyway I can make a recovery disc or not ???

What are your reasons/needs to reset it to factory settings (which will entail a massive and very time-consuming series of updates) rather than just update it to SP3 now??

    That's useful new information.
You don't need to reset it to its original state, simply to give the system to someone else.
All you need to do is delete everything except the Operating System itself = ie every bit of personal data including all software profile data such as browser profiles (you can copy files, docs, photos, videos, music etc to a usb flash drive), and if you want that deletion to be secure, so it is not recoverable, you just use something like CCleaner's Options > Settings > Wipe Free Space and set it to a secure deletion run such as 3 or 7 or 35 overwrites - each one takes longer.

If you still have the original Windows OS disk that came with the system, you can do a full format and reinstall of XP as a clean install.

I agree with Max dolly, especially if you would like the computer to be of any use to the person you are donating it to. Create a new user with Admin rights, log on to it and delete your own user account, including your files when asked. Remove any desktop software you don't want to hand over and, if you are feeling generous, install SP3 for them. If there is anything in your user account you do not want to be recoverable then use Ccleaner as described to wipe the free space. Obviously, copy off anything you would like to keep.

contains links to all the different versions of SP3.
