factory0.fpt - How may I recover data from this file?

I need help to recover my lost data
I have a Fujitsu Laptop which had a system failure. I started the recovery process by creating a back up into three DVD. The first two DVDs has been created successfully, but the process stop during the creation of the third. I then started the restore process, but it stopped when I insert the third disk.
Now Vista is working again in safe mode, but I have no data in the hard disk
The first DVD contains 150 MB for boot and file systems, the second DVD is full (4.5 GB) and it contains a file called factory0.fpt. The third DVD is empty
Is there a way to recover the data from the file factory0.fpt? It is very important: Thank you

 

Thank you. Yes, I backed up the HD only after I had the problem with the laptop. Actually the back up is part of the restore process. However I have no problem with the first DVD. It seems as if the second DVD is linked to the third (which is empty). There must be a way to read the factory0.fpt. Even if some data is corrupted, if I can read it I should be able to recover some.
