I wanted to remove some programs from starting up and running in the background on my son's computer, but I got a message that said: "Application failed to launch. 0x80070006 handle is invalid." In trying to find a solution, I was somehow led to your sticky read first post about malware removal and followed the directions. (I haven't yet put everything back) Logs are attached.
Now when I try to change the startup programs, I get this message: "Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem caused this program's service to stop. To start the service, restart your computer or search Help and Support for how to start a service manually." I restarted, but that did not help. I tried to search for how to start a service manually but was unsuccessful with that also. Do you have any suggestions? The computer uses Vista.

Additional info: Suddenly it works. I removed the utorrent toolbar my son had installed; could that have made a difference? But something keeps trying to send out info that Malwarebytes blocks that has utorrent in the name. He said he uses the utorrent program to download stuff faster. Is that a bad program? Should I uninstall that, too? Is there still a virus wanting to send info out?

HELP! It's not working anymore - the change startup programs in the control panel. Ugh!! It works then doesn't. What is going on?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Your problems may not be due to malware. It may be just due to poor choices of installing software..... including cracks for games. Let's try a few uninstalls.

    Uninstall ALL of the below:
    µTorrent
    Babylon toolbar on IE
    BrowserCompanion
    IncrediMail MediaBar 2 Toolbar
    Java(TM) 6 Update 22 (64-bit)
    Java(TM) 6 Update 22
    Java(TM) 6 Update 26
    Java(TM) SE Development Kit 6 Update 17
    Java(TM) SE Development Kit 6 Update 22 (64-bit)
    SearchCore for Browsers
    Shop To Win
    SpeedMaxPc
    StartNow Toolbar
    Uniblue DriverScanner
    uTorrentBar Toolbar
    Zynga Toolbar

Then reboot the PC. After reboot, do the below.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
