i was stupid. picked this up and every few minutes it popped back up no matter what i did. now my firewall won't work, can't even get into the screen to try to do anything with it. also slowed me down alot.believe i've followed all the steps to clear this up but i still can't get it to act right. am running an amd 3000+ 2 gig processor 1 gig of ram windows xp home sp 2 mozilla firefox for my browser. believe i followed all the directions in the read & run me first before asking for support thread. so now i'm asking for help. the only thing i couldn't do was run the panda scan because everytime i tried it would give me the ie explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut down message. it did this the moment i tried to do the scan. so i used ewido instead. i've attached the logs so you can look at them. hope you can give me some advice. thank you in advance.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Your logs do not show any signs of fake alert.b. In fact your logs show no problems at all. Are you sure you have this problem?

If you do still have it I don't understand why it is not showing but you should run the below:

    SpywareQuake & SpyFalcon Removal Procedure

Is Ewido the free trial version? If so, you should uninstall it to avoid potential excessive use of system resources and you have the free Windows Defender installed. You only want one of these installed.

If you are having problems with your firewall, perhaps you issues are related to your McAfee installation being broken. It may need to be reinstalled.

yes i really had fake alert. mcafee kept popping up telling me that it had been deleted but a few minutes later it was back. i also got phony security sites and ie explorer home was changed to about blank. my problems with my firewall started at this time. so i reinstalled it about 4 times so far, same prob. now i have followed your instr on spyquake & falcon removel. i merged the fixquake.reg file into the regristry. i go to system 32 and look for those dll files and the only one i can find is twain 32. should i have all those files. thank you

Yes that is a good thing! You will not find ALL the files. There are dozens of forms of this infection and the fix is meant to be generic to cover all cases.

    How are things working now?

everything is good now. but i noticed a few more wierd things like my system info didn't have the tab to install aoto updates and a few other things. since you said i didn't have any more of the malware i went ahead and overwrote the os and reinstalled my firewall and now al is good with the world. thank you very much. i doubt that i could have gotten everything straight without your help. but even better is i learned a lot because of this problem. THANK YOU
