I'm not sure if this was installed or not. I clicked on a link in a window that popped up saying the computer is infected with a few trojans. The window said it was Microsoft Security Essentials Alert. I clicked on the link to clean without thinking and it brought up a file to download. After the file was downloaded I realized it was probably not a good idea to run it so I didn't run it. I looked up info on the internet that said this is a fake alert and is malware.

I ran all of the Read Me and Run Me First items. Logs are attached. Can you please let me know if I caught something. Most of the logs came out clean except for TDS Killer, if I remember right. Thanks for checking.

Dang it, I knew better than to click on that link...rolleyes

    Hi,

Your logs are clean. However, you mentioned that TDSSKiller found something? The TDSSKiller provided is clean. Can you explain why you thought TDSSKiller found something? Perhaps you meant RogueKiller's findings which are false positives?

Are you currently experiencing any malware related issues?

The only item I see out of place in your logs is this installed program is out of date: Java 7 Update 17
Usually Java patches security vulnerabilities so I would recommend updating to the latest version to be safe.

No, I am not having any malware related issues. You were right about my misunderstanding of the files being dirty. Java is now updated to Update 21.

Thanks for your help. Now it is time for cleanup? Do we flush the system restore in Windows 8?

    You're welcome :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
