It seems like everytime it gets about 70 degrees outside, the fan on the back of my computer starts to get really loud. After a while of sitting here on the computer just browsing the internet, the loud fan becomes very annoying. Should I replace the fan with a different one and if so, can someone direct me to some quiet fans please.

    Here are my specs...

    Dell Dimension 4600
    2.8 GHz
40 Gig Internal Hard Drive & 120 Gig External Hard Drive
    512 MB Ram

yes, getting a new fan could make it quieter provided u buy a quieter fan! the reason it get so loud with the temp change is cause it needs to cool more when higher temps, therefore it works harder and makes more rpms leading to more noise.
be careful when u buy a new fan cause i think with most Dells there is only one fan in the case which cools the entire case and cpu.. so when getting a new one make sure it is up to the task.
u can get fans from here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Fans_47.html

Just tape the fan so it doesn't move,no movement no noise.LOL :) Joke.
Usually the only speed controlled fan on the back is the psu fan and opening that will void the warranty if it still has one and can be dangerous if you dont know what you are doing, this is just a symptom of warm running system if you can cool the rest of the system down the psu fan will slow down, one way to do this is by adding more fans or replacing the ones you have with more powerfull ones, look at the cfm rating but again more powerfull fans make more noise.
