    Hi all,
I've been trying a multitude of commands and repair consoles and so on for days to get my windows installation back up and running. I think it was corrupted after multiple BSOD after a piece of software called 'macdrive', which had been installed for a year on the system, went crazy.

Anyway, I would really really appreciate it if someone could send me a 'fix list'.

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

I'm sorry but this is not an issue for the Malware Forum. We could use FRST to remove the MacDrive items we see starting up ( if you wish ) but that does not mean it will fix your problems. In fact you really did not describe exactly what your problem is. You stated "get my windows installation back up and running" but I'm not sure exactly what happens when you try to run Windows in both normal boot mode and safe boot mode.

    Hi!
Thanks for the reply. Sorry, you're right - I didn't go into much detail. At the time I was a bit desperate and trying all sorts.

I've had macdrive installed for a year or so, but had it disabled when not having to use HFS drives. I disabled it both in-app and unchecking its startup modules from msconfig.

On Monday I needed it again so, as I usually do, checked its startup modules in msconfig and enabled it. After the restart, the machine kept getting the BSOD around 5 minutes after booting into windows. After this happened around 5 times, I successfully uninstalled macdrive from the control panel - but before I could restart I got another BSOD.

Since then the machine gets a BSOD during bootup, both in normal mode and in safe mode, I can't get into windows by any means. I think macdrive may have corrupted the hard disk drivers. I've tried pretty much everything, from the standard 'startup repair' to chkdsk to scannow to rebuilding the MBR, and also disabling ahci mode from the bios. Nothing has changed, asides from after rebuilding the MBR I can't get into 'repair mode' from the F8 menu anymore, I have to use the windows CD - but that means I no longer have administrator priviledges so I can't get into msconfig for the installed OS so can't uncheck macdrive.. baaaah!

I was hoping farbar might throw up some corrupted DLL files but having looked through the txt file myself I can't see any. I think removing macdrive from the system would be a start, but as you said, it's probably not the solution. However, if you could give me a fixlist for that alone, I would be grateful.

I've swapped the HD with another for the moment because I simply can't do without the laptop for work, and have installed a fresh Windows 7 on the new drive. But when I get home I'll swap the drives back and give you the exact error codes on the bootup BSOD.

    Thanks !

OK so reinstalled the original hard drive and the error on the BSOD at boot up, whether safe mode or normal, is:

    STOP: 0x0000007B (OxFFFFF880009a9928, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x00000000000,0x0000000000).

I would still appreciate if you could give me a fix list to at least remove macdrive from the system. Is there a way I can reinstall the hard disk drivers? I think that's what macdrive corrupted.

I don't really know. Not sure they were removed. You should ask about this in the Software Forum, but perhaps a System Restore could be run from the Recovery Environment.

Try the below to remove MacDrive

Download this >> View attachment fixlist.txt

Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.
Now reboot back into the System Recovery Options as you did previously.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (See how to attach)

Now see if you can boot into normal Windows. I really do not expect that the above will fix your problem.
