Sad, but obviously the woman has the IQ of a house plant and shouldn't have given birth in the first place.

 

OK, so I play Farmville. But seriously?!? To suggest that this is common or even a remote possibility for the majority of people who play as the article does is pretty ignorant.

On the other hand, this does boggle my mind. I'm going to go ahead an assume the "mother" is the problem here rather than the game, and if it hadn't been Farmville it would have been something else.

I used to play, but the game kept getting slower and slower as your farm got bigger.
Refresh of the page didn't help.
Saw over 150MB of RAM being used by it on numerous occasions.
Quit cold turkey. No withdrawal symptoms. No urge to return.

 

Games like that can get addicting, though I CAN NOT SEE EVERY DOING THAT!!!

I was( kind of am again) "addicted" to Evony. The game is set in medieval times, where a player is to establish a city, begin developing various technologies, and build supporting structures to generate armies and resources for the purpose of attacking other players and in-game opponents.

I like it. Forced myself to quit 2 years ago because it was basically all I did outside of school, chores, and church. Playing again not as bad this time though.

 

Sounds like the Civilization series.

Personally I think she would have reacted the same way for a variety of reasons, if it's in you to do it, then all it takes is the right trigger, whether that be a game, cooking, watching tv, reading, working, sleeping or any one of a thousand activities.

But yeah, I agre with Rikky, it's not her fault, it's clearly the game that caused it, same thing when those lads in Toronto a few years ago were caught street racing and they were found to be in possession of a copy of Need for Speed Most Wanted in the car, which clearly had hypnotic powers and forced these kids to drive at ultra high speeds in public.
Damn games, in fact only the other day I was so tempted to go outside and kill a dragon at random, I don't know why, I was just sitting there..... playing a certain game and the feeling came over me..... but I resisted. No real life dragons would die that day at my hand.

 

I saw some friends playing it... but I cannot imagine myself spending time with it.

The irony is the recession was probably caused by loss of production due to facebook and farmville:-D

 

I didn't get that as the take away message at all.

I read it as, if you are addicted to online games that it affects your life, you are better off deleting it and moving on. To this, I wholeheartedly agree. I had to do it to myself for World of Warcraft.

 

I used to play Mafia Wars, Mob World, and Fishville (or was that Mafia World and Mob Wars?). It became apparent that it was going to be incredibly repetitive and I quit playing anything on facebook.

 

The end quote was what did it for me, where she says she's going to share it with all her friends who play Farmville, and recommends everyone else do the same. As if everyone who plays the game has the potential to kill their infant child for interrupting game play.

For the record, I'm on vacation this week. My farm sits fallow. LOL

 

Face book games should be banned agreed i got addicted to mafia wars for a while and yet i don't know way.

That's way i said they should be banned all of them and another reason i got rid of facebook was be cause of the dam games i had over 1,000 + people in my friends list that kept sending game invites after game invites and that annoyed the hell out of me.I think bye the time i deleted my facebook account i had over 500+ games blocked and they still kept sending game invites does facebook really need 500+ games NO they do not.

 

So...Goldenskull, are you saying that other games NOT on Facebook are fine? That no one can get addicted to playing them? Only Facebook games should be banned?

Most games are not addicting.

There are a few on facebook that are I am not saying ban them all but it probably be a good idea on facebook.I know a couple of friends that lost there job be cause of facebook games.

 

So its facebooks fault they lost there jobs? Is that what your saying? Id argue that most people that lost there jobs because they were playing facebook games, would shortly loose there jobs for other reasons if facebook games weren't around. Its not like facebook makes you do things at work you shouldn't its people that can't control themselves that cause that to happen. If you dont like facebook games, dont play em, simple as that, no need to go nanny state/banning things.

 

I just want facebook banned because I'm sick of talking to the top of people heads:banghead and I know that's what they mostly do but if I had my way every time I spoke the entire mobile phone network would lose signal.
