Faster Home wireless network

  1. Is the any way to speed up the transfer of files between my computers on a wireless home network? Any "tweaks" I can do? I'm sure you need more info , but I don't to throw out random stuff that might be useless.

your wireless will only support a max of 54 MbPS i think. im pretty sure thats what the 802.11b/g standard supports.

b is 11 meg, g is 54. Honestly the easiest solution/answer is .... plug it in. and get the normal 100 meg connection that most Ethernet devices today support. Wireless is at max 54 for normal g devices. Now wireless n is out and its like 102 meg or close to that, but n isn't finilized and may change yet so wouldn't purchase any n gear yet.

  5. Yeah I'm stuck with 11b wireless.I would "wire" my house for the network but.well you can guess why I don't. I get a good signal but i move files around alot and wanted to know if I could tweak some settings.

not that i know of. pick up a router that will support 54MbPS if youre using the 11MbPS. thats really all you can do for wireless at this point. if its a large file youre better off doing what colemanguy said and just plug in at least just to xfer it.
